At least once a week someone on Facebook asks how to get 450-500whp from a C5.
Because Facebook search is pure garbage.
So anyway, here's how I got 450whp on one dyno, and 475whp on another:
I'm currently debugging a 454 with a 239/251 @ 114 cam, and hoping for 600whp when it's done. This is why I went with 2" headers earlier - one way or another I knew I was going to want more power.
But, I'm not at all certain 2" is better than the usual 1 3/4". It just seemed like a good idea at the time.
The Kooks mufflers have an awful drone around 1700 RPM. Zero stars, would not buy again. Also the midpipe isn't centered in the tunnel and two shops couldn't fix that, so I only have heat shielding on one side.
Fortunately tunnel heat became non-issue after I switched to a vented hood. Turns out that most of the heat down there was coming from the radiator rather than from the exhaust. I would not have guessed that.
